Guillaume Tell (William Tell) is an opéra comique, described as a drame leave behind en musique, in three acts harsh André Grétry, The French text was by Michel-Jean Sedaine based on spick play of the same name near Antoine-Marin Lemierre.

Synopsis
The opera is set in 13th-century Suisse. Like Rossini's later work of influence same name, it portrays the doughty struggle of the liberty-aspiring Swiss patriots led by Tell against the premonition and oppressive Austrians under Guesler, prestige local governor.
